Which 19,000 gallon tank car would you find most useful?

Ok, Tom wanted a poll, Tom gets a poll. 


I will be in need of several 19,000 tank cars as the CGW used this car for all of it's company tanks.  The CGW had four different iterations of this car, and I was wondering which, if any, would be useful for other RRs.

First is the ACF car ~1954, it features a single band on the tank ends, an all tank mounted hand rail, four open supports (between the bolsters)for the walkway and a vertical hand brake.



Second is a GATC car ~1955.  It has dual bands, station mounted hand rails on the ends, three closed supports, and a vertical hand brake.



Third is ACF again ~1956.  Single band, tank mounted hand rails, four open supports, horizontal brake.



Finally, ACF again ~1957.  These cars are the same is the previous, but have a more rounded end on the tank.




There are, of course, other differences between the cars but that's my list for now.

If you could, please mention the road name that had the car style which you select.

The UP had them in their O-70 class . I would just repaint , and depending on price , take 6 or so . I have been wanting them ever since I first knew of them years ago . Is somebody ever going to do them in N ?


When new they were black with the typical white small Union Pacific lettering .

I voted GATC just because it looks more interesting. All 4 look a little bit modern to me

To stay on toppic, I would do either the 3rd or 4th order as the cars were popular and could be used on several other roads.

I just voted for the latest model (1957) since that would be most likely to still be riding the rails by my layout's era.  Although, all of them probably would be (roughly 20-25 years of service?  would that work?)

The main think I need are tanks that would be in chemical service for the paper industry, since that's what I've got on the layout.  I've got a couple of GATX and UTLX cars of the MDC "Modern" variety doing stand in work, but I'd like to build a fleet of more detailed Atlas cars that are better suited to the cause.

Lee, aren't the MDC "modern" tankcars frustrating? So close to being good.... : Back on topic, I'd take any 50's era 19K tankcars, and if they are good, lots of them. I've sent Micro-Trains photos and car builders plans and small bribes, although Fox Valley might could do a better job. ???

I vote that Fox Valley do these cars. Matt needs to come out with some
more steam/diesel transition cars and these would be perfect for him to
get into this era with.
