Guess these resin shell versions make the old Western Railcraft etched brass PE kits obsolete.
So who's making the decals?

  Really Cool! Mr. Bank Account says "Oh no !" Always wanted the old Western Rail Craft ones but didn't have the modeling skills back then to build em. I guess its time to sell off on E Bay for an inflated price my Bachmann PE PCC Car which is incorrect anyway, PE cars were double ended had no standee windows, or else kit bash a correct car. Nate Goodman (Nato). " Boy just one Hollywood car would be really neat".

A couple of those cars use the Tomytec drive with the same replacement frame idea I've been doing to do a Whitcomb diesel and the powered express reefer.

That's an incredibly versatile drive package.  If you get the Gizmozone 2700 rpm gearhead - and for the best and a Kato critter motor - you'll get a really good drive system, but even the stock Tomytec is pretty good.

Great approach and I'm glad to see somebody take it on.

Well I ordered 1 of each 3 PE trolleys , and a standard Trolley Pole set , I don't know if they come with the trolleys . I already have a Western Railcraft freight motor unbuilt ( has anybody ever built theirs ) . In the Ogden / Salt Lake area there were many trolley lines , even a US ARMY one during WW2 first olive with light blue lettering  : , the later in the Korean War reinstated and painted dark blue with white lettering : . I think I will freelance a name , possibly Rosedale Traction or something like that . The Bamberger ran by Rosedale Utah , and I live in Rosedale Queens , and my layout , in my head UP , has a roundhouse in Rosedale Utah . Anyhow I am blown away by this offering . Finally trolleys that can be made to work well with the little talent I have , and to get the PE cars which I like is just a bolt out of the blue . PE decals for outside braced boxcars are made in N by Microscale , but thats it .

This thread made me search for the kit I purchased via eBay (N408). Contents looks liked this - love the box label "Featuring Programed Construction" . It also came with a Tomytec power chassis in the box (I'm sure the seller added this) which will come in handy for the new Miniatures by Eric resin kit. Not sure how thick the window mullions are on the resin kit, but the etched brass sides may become donors if needed or if they'll fit.



Vintage kit instructions by Bruce C Smith. I'm sure that in it's day this type of craftsman kit was high tech. Not sure how many modelers actually built these babies.



Now for the good part...back of the decal has Walthers logo and part number = D264N. If the artwork is still in-house maybe they can run another batch? Not sure how old this thing is or if it will fall apart when used. Any tips on using old decals?

MicroScale does not show the scale, but "60" numbers are N scale, and I found this:

Ride the BIG RED CARS!

For all the custom run decal guys out there, here's some color reference photos of the PE Hollywood cars. How soon can we have em in our hands? Having RTR cars & trucks available (CMW, WOT, Athearn) to replicate city scenes like those shown below, really gets the juices flowing.
