Anyone have high resolution pics of a SW1500 I can use for my article? Bonus points for a CR or ex-CR unit.

These are from slides. I can re-scan at a higher resolution.

RRPA has a couple 1000 that they don't mind sharing.  Just click "by Locomotive Model" and look for EMD and SW1500...

The Conrail Historical Society has about a dozen online.
You`ll never find a Philly cheese steak on a menu in Philadelphia. It`s called a cheesesteak and we all know where it`s from...

I need ones with by the copyright holder. Most photo holding sites do not hold the rights to the pictures and can not provide permision to insert a picture into a magazine article.

Well then you haven't met the CRHS then!

We can't guarantee we can get you the rights for any photo, but we can definitely put you in touch with the original photographer (if it's not one of us already).

Find me the ones you'd want and I'll get you in touch with the right people.

The AN ones are mine, no need to contact the copyright holder. I do not copyright my photos, all are welcome to use them, with proper credit.

"Most photo holding sites do not hold the rights to the pictures and can not provide permision to insert a picture into a magazine article."

Contact information @ RRPA is provided with each shot, typically below the window there will be a link to the album that it is from, which oft times is listed under the photographer's name.  And there is a contact link where you can email the photographer... many are very kind and will allow you to use their work.

Gregg can you re-scan the 2nd photo?

As for the CRHS,
http://thecrhs.org/?q=Images/CR-9531-Lebanon-PA
http://thecrhs.org/?q=Images/CR-9552-at-Juniata
http://thecrhs.org/?q=Images/CR-9564-SW-1500-Buffalo-10-92
http://thecrhs.org/?q=Images/CR-9600-at-Oak-Island-NJ-288

Any of these would work.

Resolution must be over 2000 pixels horizontal.

Thanks for all your help. Photos will be credited in the captions. I am trying to get this out in the next few days.

Check your email Dan. You've been cc'd on the contact emails.

I don't really know Kevin Gulau too well, so your best bet will just be hitting him up through railpictures.net for that original and the rights (figures you'd pick one of those!). http://www.railpictures.net/members/contact2.php?id=8872&photo=216467

Let me know how it all works out, and make sure to toss us a mention in the credits :)

Daniel I rescanned it to a 19.22MB .tiff image. Where should I send it? You can email or PM me. Will your mailbox hold a 19.22 MB file?

Being so focused on Conrail, I didn't realize at first that you could use non-CR SW1500 photos. I have a bunch of them (but no CR roster shots) so if you want more to chose from let me know.

EDIT: I decided I might as well scan some images anyway. Each file is about 5200 X 3500 and 3MG. They are scans of Kodachromes.
