Front Coupler for PCM E-7

I want to replace the front coupler on a PCM E-7.  What they are using sucks -won't stay coupled to any other coupler on any car I own.  What would you suggest for a replacement?

P.S.  I swear I posted this yesterday but it disappeared!

You could use a MT Z scale #905 coupler.

The problem with the PCM knock-off of the MTL coupler is the flash sticking out of the front of the knuckle.  I haven't seen one yet that was clipped cleanly from the sprue... try shaving off the bump first and see if that solves your problem.

If not, I think PCM copied one of the MTL boxes, but I can't remember what it looks like, so can't suggest the right part number off hand.

Have you mounted a 905 on a PCM E-7?  I looked at doing this and couldn't figure out how to get the right height/stick out length and still use the current mounting hole.

You'll have to use styrene shims to get the correct height. The Z Scale coupler must engage an N scale coupler at its midpoint to get the best coupling effect. You'll also have to tap a new hole for the much smaller screw of the Z scale coupler.
