Not to clutter the other thread even more...
I did a follow up the the cars I had in question and the winner is....
Yellow on Black.
Sort of an interesting tid-bit, these cars had the C&O 'for Progress' logo on one side but a C&O over 'CHESAPEAKE & OHIO' on the other. I'm hoping the C&O yahoo group will be able to help out with some of the lettering.
