Proto87 Street track for N?

So here's a small example I cobbled up that will hopefully give an idea of how this stuff works in an N scale world.

I used a metal ruler to help my layout one pair of rails (10"), then glued them with Gator glue.  Then since I couldn't find my NMRA track gauge, I used a Microscale truck to help position the outside rail then tacked it down with more Gator.  Finally 0.020" sheet stock, painted Floquil Concrete (not a good choice but it's kinda rainy out and I just used what I had on hand).



I simply laid the switch components out to see what it would look like so they aren't glued (and thusly I see they are a bit crooked).

No.  Each piece of rail has a small grove on the underside and a short piece of 0.013" Nickel Silver wire is used as a "rail joiner" of sorts.  It's recommended that the rails then be soldered together(leaving an 0.010" gap every 15" or so).

Power is provided to the rails by 0.001" brass shim (with insulation tape to isolate each rail as already noted).
