I'd like to believe it, but it's been said by the Bach-Man himself http://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/board/index.php/topic,6161.0.html that it has "a new drive and updated tooling." That's not exactly as reassuring as "It is completely new tooling from the ground up." It's a sure "wait and see" for me. Frankly I'll be surprised if it really is completely new. If it is I'll buy two, but no way if it's the same weirdly-proportioned thing.

Wish someone would do DD35s instead.

I never really knew how people could tell anything with that one photo from the show with the black shell.  I had mentioned that the pilots were truck mounted and the next thing I knew, people were complaining about old tooling.  They could have completely retooled the whole model and still have truck mounted pilots.

Considering the length of that monstrosity, and the fact that Bachmann has been royally chewed for the inability of the Acela trainset to negotiate 11 inch radius curves, I suspect Bachmann would put truck mounted couplers on a New UP Centennial model, even if it was all entirely new tooling.

BTW, UP still has one in operating condition and uses it on OCS trains now and then.

Question... WHY isn't the Bach-mann doing the 6936? 

Sort of like WHY didn't Kato do the UP E8's in the OCS fleet numbers and/or release the smoothside passenger cars in the OCS names (at least trying to get as close as they could)

Why is there so little interest in the few RR owned passenger trains still operating today.

Not only that, but the UP OCS (as well as the others) routinely travel offline - ie. to Superbowls, political conventions, etc...

Maybe it's cuz the research team doesn't exist. Maybe someone should tell them now about 6936. Then again if it's just "updated tooling" why bother? That is the key question that remains - is it or is it not new tooling?

But they have now released or are releasing the medium sized tender which should be correct if I'm not mistaken for the Heavy Mountain. I  have ordered one from Chulvis (at least I think I have )

More or less. If ya had to pay list it would be $250 for the loco, then another $40 for the tender.  ;D

  Hey ! If the new DD40X doesn't have the cool working Yellow cab top Flasher, then I'am not interested. Yes I vote for both the DD-35 B and the later DD-35 A locomotives,but I guess thats not in the cards.     Nate Goodman (Nato).
