Help - Atlas Code 55 #5's

I have exactly one Atlas code 55 #5 turnout - to an industrial spur on my mainline.

As operation started today I noticed that Atlas SD60's seem to bounce like crazy over this switch. It looks like the frog on this guy is too shallow or too narrow.

Is this a known problem - it may be one of the 2-3 Code 55's I bought when they first came out to evaluate them...

It's a known problem.  I don't know that it was ever corrected.  Anyone know?

If you have an NMRA gage you'll see that one of the flangeways is too narrow.

I corrected mine by passing a jewelers file through the frog and guardrail a few times.  Took about 15 seconds.
You might also check the gauge on your engine.  Even a little bit narrow will cause the bounce.

Yep - worked it out with a dremel tool in about a minute. It was the guardrail that had the problem I think. It only snagged 2 SD60's (from different productions) - other locos passed right through.
