2nd attempt at weathering

Finding this old car that I had,, I decided to try some more weathering.

  On this MILW covered hopper I used a combination of artist oils,, bragdon powders ,regular chalk and a wash of brown/black india ink.






  I realize I have a long way to go,,,practice does make perfect in this case.

I really like it. It's got that right "rusted MILW" look to it.

  Thanx Ed. I was just messing around. Now I think I will get the Plano roofwalk kit to get rid of the ugly eye sore of the stock roofwalk.

  I did some boxcars also,,but looking back,, they look too dusty.

Looks good!
MILW and Chessie hoppers are fun to weather. BN is my favorite boxcar to weather because the green blends with weathering well. White, dark blue/black are my least favorite colors to weather.

Lookin' very good. I especially like the treatment of the hopper weld seams and the buildup of lading material along the joint of the frame and the side panels.  8)
