DC consisting

Hi everyone,

I know DCC is all the rage these days, but my layout is too small to justify going that route. However, I would also like to run multiple-unit consists, and without DCC I don't have much flexibility when it comes to pairing up engines.

So here's my issue: I have two sd80macs that I'd like to run together, with one running somewhat faster than the other. If I put the faster one in the lead, is there a risk of motor burnout?

If the difference is minor, just make sure your couplers are in good alignment.  Putting the faster engine in the front means there will be a little extra tug on its rear coupler.  This is better than putting the faster in the second position, because then your couplers would be pushing together, which could cause an unwanted uncoupling.
