Photographed at a metal yard in Northern Toronto... poor shot from the road... any idea what it is..... kinda looks like either a MLW tank engine or a Porter...

There were a number of manufacturers of industrial steam locomotives in addition to the usual large locomotive manufacturers in the US and Canada. Besides H. K. Porter, Vulcan and Davenport also built such power, was well as Baldwin, ALCo, and Lima. If it is a Porter, the builder's plate is on the cylinder saddle behind the valve chest. Some slide valve cylinders had the manufacturers name cast at the base of the valve box. Your photo  is too dark in those areas to tell is either are present.

It looks like an early 1980's vintage Simplicity 38" cut, perhaps made by MTD? ;D

 Oh, and a nice find on the steamer too.......

I don't think it's a "fireless cooker," since it appears to have a small coal bunker on the rear. There's an odd piece behind the stack that might be where a steam dome once was located. Anyway, at quick glance, it doesn't appear to be among the list of preserved steam locos in Ontario: http://www.steamlocomotive.com/lists/ON.shtml

Richie (UP1950's), nailed it. It's definitely a stock Alco/Cooke 0-4-0T. The sandbox is wrapped around the steam dome - keeps the sand warm and dry that way. There is some sort of plate on the valve chest, but the photo is not fine-grained enough to blow up and read it.

If it's on Old Weston Road, the Canadian Trackside Guide has it as a Porter 0-4-0, compressed air, 40.5 inch gauge, Ser #3500, built May 1906! Originally owned by Plymouth Cordage, to A. A. Merrilees in 1956.

Here is an example of a fireless Porter . It is also a close match , but not as close as the Cooke I think . The plot thickens .
