Is this really someone's idea of an homage to an E5?

If Kato would slap MRL paint on their SD45's I'd buy a small fleet of them.

Yes to this! The Q unit has grown on me. “A” for effort.
Rumor has it C&NW and GM&O units are in the works as well.

I was hoping to get some modeling done in the next couple days, but now I have 300 suggestions to write up and submit....
1) Big dome lounge ATSF.
2) Big dome lounge/dorm ATSF.
3) As long as you are doing the above, why not a 1954 San Francisco Chief?
4) As long as you are doing the San Francisco Chief, why not put the skirts back on the pre-war Pullmans and do the 1938 Chief?
5) As long as you are doing the 1938 Chief, why not also do the 1938 Pullman Super Chief?
6) Make this 1.5- Forget those other Chiefs and do the 1937 Super Chief with Budd cars and E1s..............
7) Which reminds me, SANTA FE steam.....................................

You can see how this could go on for a while.

Or, conversely, they could do something other than Santa Fe...

I don't know how many suggestions are required, but I'm sure I was among many that requested the current Amtrak baggage car and I was most pleased to see them ship the new baggage cars earlier this year.

The Milwaukee and Rock Island units are pretty cool.

Those were actually part of a proposal and and a much larger strategy that got the Pullman Standard bi-levels made (upcoming CNW and Metra cars).

Yes, I'm aware the heritage Milwaukee and Rock units exist.  ;)  That's on the back burner though.  It may get run at some point in the Kobo line as custom painted units as there are reservations as to whether the market would accept a standard production run.

No plans on the Winnebego F40 though so don't hold your breath for a CB&Q F40PHM-2. :(

Enjoy!

While we're talking about what other people should do with their money... another run of SD40s and SD45s wouldn't be a terrible thing. It HAS been 15 years, after all...

But, it's been about 30 years since Kato made F3/F7 units in such obscure roadnames as NYC and PRR.

True, but much less time since another manufacturer has made them.

That's fine if you consider F3 and F7 models to be a fungible commodity.
Would you take, for example, a Bachmann SD45 in place of one from Kato?

I'd take one with a scale width hood... *ducks*
