Sooo....I have been causing a ruckus over on trainboard about the New, Yet to be announced Next passenger train set, I have been asked to keep it hush hush......But......
PM me if you wanna know, I get my information from reliable sources. Us PNW modelers should find a home for this one, Pud, you'll be intrested in some of the new cars, assuming they do they model the years I think they are going to.

The Milwaukee Road Olympian is hardly a secret at this point.
-
Its a good time to be a mid west modeler.

You must have incorrect information... It's confirmed to be the 1969 Broadway Limited - with factory weathering, cold snack bar, broken air conditioning and on board muggers. The dusty PC GG1's and E8's offered with the train have a new feature "Realistic Breakdown" - they randomly just stop dead on the track until you complete a puzzle on the Road Foreman of Engines APP which is supplied for IOS or Android devices.

And with so many midwest modelers, it's a good time to manufacture midwest stuff too!

It's the Polar Express with a 1:160 Tom Hanks figure.............

You never know when the Olympian will get pushed back again, but at this point it's the worst kept secret in N scale.
The best was the recent published question in the Milwaukee Railroader along the lines of, "I'm helping gather information for a major manufacturer doing the Olympian in N scale and am looking for Touralux sleeper drawings and photos." I don't think that was supposed to go to the public Q&A pages in the Historical Societies publication...
-
Seriously that's great news - a cool train! Milwaukee Road modelers are among the luckiest out there!
-
With Little Joe power as well...
Can't wait. Now we just need FVM to do the twin-cities version.
Hopefully Kato does a North Coast Limited at some point.

Heard its the 1911 version ... :P

You have no idea how much that offering would help me in the layout building department,

:| Are we talking about the Streamlined "Olympian Hiawatha",the heavyweight train which was named the "Olympian",there was also the "Columbian",originally heavyweight later a mix of cars. And then there was in 1947 the "Olympian Hiawatha"which begs to be modeled, devivery delays of the lightweight sleepers and Sky Top obs cars resulted in a train that was partially lightweight equipment, but with HW sleepers and open platform obs car. Kato should just get the Brass model train that came out a few years back and the add on "Super Dome" car to get details and leingth's etc. Nate Goodman(Nato). "Who was hoping it was a two tone green NP NCL. W-a-a-a!"I already have a brass Oly Hi."

This is a rhetorical question, right?

I'm not sure I even follow.
Que?

When you sober up it will make sense. Nato is asking if it's the streamlined version with skytop and superdome or a prior heavyweight version. Since it's obvious which one of those would actually sell, I think it's a rhetorical question. ;)

So if they do HW's in Milw it's a good bet UP HW's will come some day ( I hope ) . The Lil Joes didn't come till 1919 IIRC but they pulled that train . In lies the question , will Kato have a loco to go with it . If so will it be the FVM 4-4-2 , or something new from Kato ? I would buy a Milw elec in a heart beat .

Richie, I suspect you are thinking of the Bipolar electrics, which went into service in 1919. The 20 Little Joes (as in Stalin), were ordered in 1946 by the USSR, but their export was banned by the State Department in 1948. The Milwaukee Road Road got 12, the South Shore Line got 3, and 5 went to Brasil. I would be in for this train set, even though I don't need one. When you see the price that Superdomes and Skytops go for in brass on eBay, you start to believe that this would be a successful model. The Little Joe would be cool, again, even though I don't need one.
Best wishes, Dave

Not at all , if the collective didn't correct its self it wouldn't be worth having one , reading it , and posting to it .

Either version would make many us drink. :P

Great...fine....do the Hiawatha with the skytop lounges and the superdomes...I'll buy one....but for the love of the maple leaf sell those cars separately for us canucks that want to model CN's Ocean and Super Continental.....oh, silly me, it's Kato..... nevermind....

Mike, Kato usually sells parts to make a complete car sometime after they release a set. You'll have to act fast as those cars sell out in days. Super dome and skytop maybe maybe in hours.

Never once did it work for me before... maybe, like waiting for McCartney tickets I'll have to pull out the sleeping bag and lawn chair....?
-
Kato usually offers a 4 car add on set. With any luck, they may be the cars you need.

I'd still rather see the Cincinattian...

:| The locomotive may not be electric although Bi-Polars would be nice. A more likely canidate would be FM Erie Buiilt's which had fancy chrome nose trim. These powered the train all the way thru to Seattle/Tacoma at first running through both electric zones. They ran on the mixed heavyweight and lightweight consist which became all lightweight later. With in about a year if I recall correctly they stopped running through, modernized box cabs with a European look were then used on the Rocky Mt. Division and the Bi-Polars on the Coast Division. Kato does not always do add on sets. Their City Of Los Angeles like the CZ has no add on cars (needed) and some original sets were done as aix and four car sets. Nate Goodman (Nato).

FM Erie Buiilt's would really be cool! I am fine either way, electric or FM Erie Buiilt's.
