Too hot to go outside?  Watch some train videos:

Very nice video's as usual most of the modules are very well done, with a few a work in progress. Now to the only reason I will never love Free Mo or similar Modutrak. No backdrops/sky boards/ and there is no way they can be designed in. Very distracting when viewing in person and I look and see the other side of the room maybe with a person walking by, or as in the Flyover the distraction of the guy vacuuming the carpet in the background. Nate Goodman (Nato).

Oh Nate.... and to think we were just talking about inviting you to a ModuTrak run session.  ;)  To each his own. My New Lisbon modules started with sky boards and I took them off because they were distracting to me when trying to run trains from either side. Presumably a good job of modeling will hold your attention to the tracks, trains and scenery and not let it wander elsewhere. Your mileage may vary and apparently it does. No worries though, we'll hold a throttle open for you  :)

:|Bill, That is because sky boards down the center would not work, and one on which ever side you put it on would not work either. My modular exposure was first N Quack as I call it and now Wasatch N Rail which is a variation of that format. I'am pretty sure I would get use to the Free Mo / Modutrak format if I was a member of a club that used it for their modules, Bend Track is an interesting variation, but I really don't like it either and can anyone but myself remember "Interrail" not the double stack car kits, but a snakes nest of trackage on modules in N Scale/ Gauge that I saw at the N.M.R.A. show in Eugene Oregon. Nate Goodman. (Nato).

Personally, I’m not a fan of sky boards. Unless you have a very long set of matching modules, I see more distraction from the dramatic changes in scenery from the adjacent modules than I do from whatever is going on in the background without sky boards. Actually, if background screening is needed, I’d rather see booth curtains behind the modules.

I suspect that you are in a minority on this.  How about a Flintstones-themed backdrop?

Only if the theme song is being played.

Nice video .. loved the switching . --- they do need to fix that switch leading to the "Bachman" industry though .. too much ballast?

You know, I think you're onto something there. But I DO think something is needed. Perhaps a neutral "hazy" backdrop. I actually like the way BANTRAK has specified a sky color and encourages everyone to match.

Yes, a hazy backdrop curtain would work, maybe a light gray which would disappear visually after a few seconds.

But then how can you model an angry animated tornado with dark clouds, and lighting flashes on the backdrop?  :D

Dude, you shouldn't have used the word angry. It's too tempting for me to not be nice.

Nice vid and nice setup, but why such short trains?

It’s hard to see on camera, but backing into bachmann was a S curve.  Maybe something else going on too but I couldn’t get anything in there without the 0-5-0 helper.

Nice vid and nice setup, but why such short trains?
It was a point to point layout so short trains and switching made the most sense.  My upcoming national train show free-mon video has longer trains and more variety.  Stay tuned.
