Will the guts of the newer Atlas SD7/9's fit into the older Atlas/Kato frame halves? Along with that, the newer shells should fit over the older frames halves, correct?
I ruined a newer frame while milling and figured I would get the older, heavier frame for a bit more strength and pulling capacity.
Thanks, Doug

I seem to recall that the Atlas/Kato shell was slightly wider than the newer Atlas shell but I can't confirm this.

The new frame is narrower than the old (Kato) frame. So, the new bodies will NOT fit on the old frames (I tried :( )

Bummer. I knew the new frame was narrower, but didn't have a pair of shells to to examine. I was hopeful when reading Spookshow's review of the model as he noted that the newer shells were virtually identical to the old ones.
Thanks guys.

Doug,
Would you believe I have the exact opposite problem. I have the new Atlas SD7/9 frames, but want the older Kato made ones.

Clint,
I think we have the same problem. I have a new shell and want an old frame as well.

I thought the shell was the same tooling, right? So a newer shell should fit the old chassis and vice versa.

No, the shell is not the same tooling. I have both and am quite certain (much to my disappointment).
