Title: Micro Trains Quite responsive with Special Order Cars
Post by: Subwayaz on March 27, 2008, 11:47:19 PM
Another forum that I belong to is having a Custom Boxcar made, and much to my surprise they are very responsive to our needs. Being a large company I would have thought that a small request would have been placed on the back burner never to be heard from till 2019.  LOL And much to my surprise this is not the case at all. They handle small special orders as a Top Priority. The car looks great. So rest assure that MT will handle small project with the same attention that they handle Big ones. ;)

So what special car was made?

Isn't it around 150 cars you need to have run before they will consider it?

The amount of cars is 300, still in the process. It's a 50' Boxcar and if you would like to see it here's the link.  http://www.nscale.org/defaulteng.htm

They've done this for years, nothing new.

Nice subtle ad for another forum though...

They have done special runs of far fewer than 300...you're not their top customer yet. :-*

If you ever tour Micro-Trains plant, you won't say "they're a big company"; quite the opposite. They're small company that does lots of things. Their entire operation would fit inside an old small Wal-Mart, with room for two more MT companies! :o

I would buy one . I would be nice if one was made , and that it be a car and paint job that transcends all eras . Roof walks and ladders can be added more easily by us than removed , but only if there is a color match known , or a common color .

I have to ask...if you're going to go through the trouble and expense of having a special run done, why not do something as prototypical as possible that more people might actually want to buy? Club (and forum) cars are, well, um.... you know. I would never buy one.

As much flak as MT gets here and on other forums for their fantasy cars I can't believe anyone here, of all places, would even entertain the notion. Unless this is all a joke, in which case the joke's on me I guess!

There are less than 2-3 Railwire Forum cars  that I know of .. they were made from custom decals by TivoPrince.

There was a fantasy car that got its start on here, though. It was the Virginia Atlantic hopper. For a while, a modeler who worked for the Virginia Railway Express was very active on The Railwire and lettered much of his equipment for the VARR, a product of his imagination.

Since he had designed the color scheme for some of the VRE's locomotives and passenger cars, his N scale scheme looked sharp, so enough members expressed interest that Bowser was commissioned to do a hopper, as it had the smallest minimum requirement.

He still lurks on occasion, but hasn't posted in ages.

Being that John is a B&O fan , how about a B&O business car , vista dome , or heavyweight observation with a sign on it stating " The Railwire Forum Special " ? That would transcend the eras .

Naaah...what John needs is a MT 100 ton open coal hopper (108-series) done in a Maryland & Ohio paint scheme.   ;D

Same thing applies for Con-Cor, very small company and staff. They could fit their operation in a convience store. Amazing how things get done. But MT has a outstanding Rep.
