We took our two HO scale XIH pilot models to Jim Homoki's Newark Terminal RR to participate in the monthly operating session this past week.

Did those NH and BAR SoM cars travel nationwide, or was there some limit to how far they went, to the south and west, beyond the limits of the NH system?

They were at least on Erie trains all the time.

They would be free runners and could be found anywhere and handled in accordance to the car service rules. The rules and "return to" instructions on the side of the car weren't always abided by, so lots of opportunity to see these anywhere...

Evidently so.

I was at the SP archives in Dunsmuir a few months ago and found some information that they ended up on the West Coast vi SP. I need to find the reference, but regardless several of them will end up on my layout. :)

They regularly traveled to all corners of North America.
