Model Power Built-up deconstruction

Hello,

I'm interested in the Model Power 769 HO Scale Built-up Leviton Office

https://www.trainz.com/products/model-power-769-ho-scale-built-up-leviton-office

But I'd like to do some painting/kitbashing.  Does anybody have any experience taking apart a built-up kit?  Or, even better, was tooling ever offered as an unassembled kit?

Thanks

Matt

Why take it apart ?

Why not just cut the roof out leaving enough material around the edge  to support a new flat sheet of styrene when you are done with what you want to do?

Well, I also want to repaint it, which would be easier if it was taken apart. Also, I would like to remove the backside in order to connect it with another building.

Is this one that they had also offered as a kit for years?

I think it might not be, but if it was, you might be able to find one of those for cheap.

I was hoping so. The built ups are usually reincarnations of earlier kits.  I have tried looking on eBay, but had no luck. Does anybody know the name of what that kit might be?
