Maybe it's time to invest in glass display cases.

I like the ability to freely fondle the model (to look at it from multiple angles, including the bottom). If it sits in a display I lose that ability. Even if the model could be removed to be examined, I would have to hunt down the very busy sales rep, and ask them to take it out of the case.

But unfortunately, it looks like we are heading in that direction. That is really too bad. This world is getting nastier and nastier every year.

The "bad actors" are likely citizens born here to American parents.  But we shouldn't go there.  :scared:

Maybe the show sponsors will have to have people checking goods out vs. goods on receipt ala Sam's, Walmart, or Costco. However, in order to have enough "checkers" the admission prices would rise, then attendance would start to fall and at some point the show would fold because of lack of attendance. If ever caught, the culprit should be hung by his coupler over an ant hill.

Unfortunately you have to watch the product samples every minute, and have them displayed in a way that it's obvious when someone touches them such as on a wall shelf or an isolated display stand.  But it gets harder to watch when there is a large booth with multiple samples scattered about and not enough personnel to watch and talk with the patrons, as opposed to a smaller number of samples on just one or two tables.

It could also just be a kid too. When I was displaying for the N Scale Vehicle Association, kids would just come up and grab things. It's a delicate balance to discourage this behavior but also not come off as a jerk. I bet more than a few models Springfield end up in the back seat crevasses of a minivan.

Now there's a market.  N-Scale Security Officiers...we'll come to your booth and watch over your items while you talk to customers.  We don't talk to customers so we won't get distracted.

That's what they do at the camera shows I attend where equipment runs thousands of dollars.

Given some of the parenting skill sets, or lack there of, I have seen over the last few decades would not be surprised in the least. Entitlement generation and off spring and all that...

Kind regards,
