They are quite nice. The price is mighty steep for a vehicle.

Lots of intricate details and moving parts.  Should be a winner.

Price is ridiculous, but as the centerpiece of an intermodal operation it's interesting...    The alternative is the Walthers loader, which is proably $30  if you can find one and has to be assembled.

I think that looks awesome.  I'd sure like to see a log loader fashioned from this model someday.

Don't really see how the price on this is so "ridiculous", personally.  Or even "steep for a vehicle" when a tiny plastic Ford Explorer will set you back about $10.

It's about the only "structure" that an intermodal facility would have and as impressive as it appears, it would be a very worthwhile 'centerpiece' to an otherwise fairly expansive blank of asphalt or one in which the low-detailed alternatives sorta stick-out.  It's fully-positionable, far more intricate, just plain cooler, and won't sell in a tiny fraction of the volume of an autorack car and those run fully 2/3rds the price of one of these.  The somewhat comparable GHQ Mi-Jack cranes run about $20 more than these and, at times of seeming scarcity, have even sold for twice one of these (not sure what they sold for originally, but I bet it was about the same as these).

The price is very reasonable to me. In a world of $120 dollar spine cars, this isn't really that expensive, especially when you consider it has two times the parts of the BLMA reefer.

Seriously, it looks fantastic and in this day and age is surely worth it...

From what I remember, the NSN kit from two decades ago was around that price or close to it, and you had to invest 30 man-hours to build it.

I have no doubt about the quality and th price could be worse. Personally, it's worth it because of the complexity. But a good many of our customers.....as well as quite a fair amount of those on this forum, will find the cost to steep for their tastes since it isn't a loco, rolling stock or structure kit. Nothing new there. For those heavy into intermodal modeling, this is a must. For others, it's just an expensive piece of scenery.  That's just the way it is.

Price is fine. The model when done should be far from 'toy like' and thats worth the extra clams IMHO.

For that kind of detail, $60 seems reasonable.

Hawtness:

Oh the memories seeing one of these beasties bring back are priceless...

Loved operating these machines. It was "old school" as every function was a lever (as opposed to the Kalmar Container Champs which had joystick controls...)

They were old, slow, top heavy, ice cold in the winter, and all around cumbersome BUT.....

They were reliable and outside of the occasional trailer arm falling off the crane (happens when the machine does 500+ lifts a day) they definitely weren't anywhere near as troublesome as those Kalmars.

Cool that someone is offering them in scale form. Good memories operating them.
