Beautiful work Mark!

Been a great week for the Kanto Sub; Sam is busy making trees..... lots of trees.... I've been doing a bunch of small stuff and finishing a scratch built diner that fills a hole I'd been stewing about....

Lois..... that's me mom's name and if the mother in law has a Fruit and Veggie company then the least my ol' mom can have is a diner..... little joints like this were common near stations and this one is right beside it.... fits like a glove. I used brick card stock to make the walls and then dove into the scrap box and sign collection and internet for the rest..... seems to look right at home....

I updated the Kanto Layout report if you're wandering by....

I'm still diggin the black and white..... :D

Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Spent some time on a HOn30 locomotive.  Built up the running boards. Mounted the whistle and pop valve. Recessed the bell into the sand dome. The cab is a 3D piece.

Driving down a local road this morning when car in front of me slowed almost to a stop, pulls off shoulder to go around a large cardboard box in the road.  I did the same, except stopped to pick up the box, removing a threat to cause an accident.  As it laid on the road this is what I saw...

I picked it up and went to throw it in the trunk of car and saw this....

Regardless of brand written on box and your opinion of them, DAMN IT !  :x I arrived too late !  At one time it had trains in it  :D :D :D

Back in the 1970s, I was walking down a street and saw a $20 bill lying on the sidewalk. I picked it up, hurried home, drove to the hobby shop, where I spent it all on model railroad stuff. Sometimes you win.

Hmm... hey! That was my
money I lost...

In college I came home one Christmas to find a GP7 and new cars running on an expanded Lionel track under the Christmas tree. Dad had pulled the loco, 4 cars, and 16 pieces if track out of the trash. He still has them.

No new progress to share, just been running trains and taking pictures.....

The RS3s in the background are on the ladder starting to workThompson Yard, while the ALCOs in the foreground await there next assignment. The Southern power is laying over and will head home with a transfer run in a few hours....

Meanwhile, a pair of RS11s wait in the hole at Downy, KY for a hot TOTE to go by and clearance from the dispatcher to proceed. The crew is in the office of Guenther Coal refilling their thermoses with coffee.

That brick sculpture is beautiful! So is Mr. Denton's Hiawatha, Mike's new layout, Mark's Castlegar station, and everything else, as always.

Years back I went to the dump to make a deposit and found, at my feet, a big bundle of HO track, and good quality stuff. In these parts you're not allowed to remove material from the dump, but I bundled the turnouts (15 to 20, as I recall) under the seat and smuggled them out. After a quick clean up I traded them in at the LHS for an armful of N stuff.

Working on chain link fence. I believe after several tries, this third pass is the one
that really works. More in weathering, detailing and scratchbuilding.

Some very nice work this week.

I've lost all initiative on my layout so I was cleaning things up and came across my On30 "box".  I found a mostly finished turnout so I had some fun finishing it.  I made it entirely with wood ties- securing the points was a bit of a challenge- but it works now and is very smooth operating.
