Spy photo of RNRH 1489 12/1/25. Originally built as Budd 10-6 (N&W Class S-1) in 1949. After serving the N&W up to 1964, sold to PRR and was converted to use as a coach for commuter service. It then went to MARC (Maryland) commuter service (early 1980s(?) to around 2001 or so). It got around a bit but is now back in Roanoke where the Roanoke Chapter will refurbish it.

How about something a little funky today?

Some photos that I've been running through BeFunky.com

Damn Ed, you could print these out, frame them and sell them as art at some cheesy mall booth.  :D

For clarity, the photo I posted is an N&W car (not a PRR "Inn" series).  :D

MARC had the PRR INN cars....

double check the pullman number and the pullman order

there were a few RR's in the order

N&W's "County" cars were Lot #9660-033, Plan #9523. N&W bought 20 of these new in 1949. I believe 15 of them eventually went to MARC (Marc 100-114).

MARC also bought some cars that were former PRR "Inn" series cars - I don't know the specifics except that the "Inn" series cars were originally plan #9513.

Nice Volvo!  :D

Thanks! That was my second college car. I loved it.

There are times I think about trying to find one now and doing some modernization to it (basically an LS swap, Bluetooth and keyless entry) for a railfan mobile.

I used to work for a trucking company with several shops to do maintenance on our fleet.  The Shop Manager at our Crestline Ohio shop, a former driver, "old head", one of the Original Supertruckers by the name of Leroy Kinnear, who had fingers thick as kielbasa that were perpetually blackened by grease.. He swore by Volvos.  Had one of the sedans-- a 240 I think? with over 500,000 miles on it.

I had the pleasure of teaching him how to use a computer (from scratch) in order to use a program to track parts and consumables.  This was back in the days of DBase, 50mb hard drives, and a choice of color monitor--amber or green.   Good times...

I've had several Volvos.  .  I spent much more time swearing "at them" than "by them".

Really? I've had two and loved both of them.

I coveted me a 740 station wagon back in the day. They were popular with the Ferrari guys I hung with.
