I’m just curious why they switched to Digitrax bs TCS.

Looks like some typos in the Kato page so maybe it will really be TCS. Looks like the page has changed a bit since I looked yesterday.

So what is "Digitrax DCCC"?

:)  Looking forward to these, especially the UP letters (w/o flag) and possibly SP.  However, I hope that Kato uses the one peg rear brake hose attachment (like SD-45 and GE locomotives) instead of those angled small two pin with matching tiny mounting holes like the revised SD-40, SD-70M, and SD-70MAC.  The angled two small pin brake hoses are difficult to line up and install.  In fact, I screwed up mine on the SD-70M, but it did fit into the mounting holes after multiple tries.  Also, the front hand rails are tiny and hard to install.  For pictures, here are front and back views of these Kato N scale locomotives.  For clarity, I photographed in sunshine on our back porch.

How many different paint schemes can they do in Union Pacific for this body style?
Flags, no flags, what else?

Here is a favorite photo by Mark Forbes showing a couple of the EMD lease schemes.

4, original lightning stripe with red side sill stripe, flag with red stripe, lightning with yellow stripe, and flag with yellow stripe. Some of the repaints are loosing the flag.
With the body parts they can do 1 more of the 4 different phase if the straight cab fits the flare rad body. That would take care of about 1000 or so of UP 1400+ SD70M.

Also the 25 EMD leasers when to CSX But last year CSX sold them to Progresive Rail and now they are back on lease at UP.

I remember when CSX got them because they had them down here in FL before they got repainted and those EMDX colors look great.

Which ever side of the track I am on is the right side.

Actually there would be at least 7 for UP alone if you don't count the Olympic versions (and there are lots of variation on those depending on year). As there is two versions of the flag, the original trio of 4526-4528, in both red and yellow stripes. You also have the ex SP repaints with lower Z stripes like 3997. Even though the front nose grab irons would be wrong for the model as they are parallel to the front grab irons in height. UP 3975 (ex-SP 9801) was wrecked and rebuilt at some point and has the higher nose grabs like the Kato model.

UP 3977 (low Z stripe)

UP 3975 (high nose grab irons above wing)

Some of the ex EMD leasers have the same height as the SP versions but not all. You also have the NYSW SD70Ms which would fit the current model.

Sorry I had done a ton of research after I had purchased a Charlie Hopkins UP ex-SP SD70M that he did and it detailed his modifications and I didn't realize the incorrectness of the actual Kato SP version. I currently own four actual SP and have stripped others just the same.

I'm an NS guy and glad to see this even though NS only had 13 like this, but I'm surprised nobody is talking about a CSX version of these. The first run was CSX and SP.
Your layouts nice, but it needs more Conrail !

Glad to see NS as well. I’ve only seen one in real life in the middle of the consist, but still cool though! I do prefer the the version with the solid frame stripe though. I think one or two of the original NS engines made to horsehead, and then there’s the 3 former NYSW motors which Kato could also do.

Of course there’s also the question of will Kato ever do a SD75M?

Maybe the high prices for SP ones on auction site helped as well!!  Either way, we are getting some!

Next run of flat radiator SD70Ms will include a pair of SP, and some other road... I forget which. Email announcement just dropped in from PWRS, due Q2/2021.

That would be CSX. The original two roads that were ran.

CSX 4691 & 4695
SP 9804 & 9820

Those are the new road numbers.  DC, DCC - Digitrax, and DCC/Sound - LokSound are the options.
