A dreary Sunday means no work outside on the house.  So time to turn our attention to some nagging wiring issues that came about as a result of my impatient approach to such things.

Pulled all the stuff off, and will remove the layout to the kitchen table to see how much I can get done before dinner's ready...

Lee

Lee, Being someone who is also layout space deprived , I really like the track plan of your layout. Urban railroading in a small space at it's finest. Two thumbs up  :D

Cheers,
Rich S.

First, ya need to know how thick the F-Units' stirrups really were.  Sanding them to the thickness or thinness you "like" doesn't mean they're gonna look prototypical. To help out, here's a photo of the real deal that gives you an idea of how thick these really were:

Here's a shot of one from a slightly different angle.  Pretty thick.

Can't model worth a darn, but can research like an SOB.

Yeah, I have those but they are too thin at .2mm which just looks awkward with the thick plastic shell.  I tried doubling them up but it wasn't fun.  I'm looking at etching them from .4mm which is a little thick but will go good with the shell.

Thick is always visually relative in N scale. In the picture above, if the grab is 1" diameter, then the stirrup is roughly 3x that maybe slightly more, say ~3.19".  3.19" in N is 0.0199" or 0.5mm thick, so if anything, 0.5" brass would be perfect.

This measurement was calibrated assuming a 1" diameter grab and and is approximate:
