ID these trucks?

This pic was taken in the mid 70s at Wicopee OR on the SP. Can anyone identify the trucks on the MP flat car?

Look like Peterbilts to me under all the custom armor. Here's a plain-cab Peterbilt of roughly the same era that belonged to a friend:



Beyond that, good luck, these were definitely custom fabrications for off-road [ab]use, probably forestry. I would conjecture they were used-up quickly and thrown away.

And if it's not an oddball manufacturer, it's looks like a Kenworth to me.

Yeah, that's about right. I obviously don't know my KW from a PB, at least not from that era. Besides, nobody caught that my picture was of the "Duel" truck. And - really - my buddy owned it for a few years. The pic was taken at his family's farm.

Oh, crap. Yeah, I did. Sorry.    I composed the note in the other thread a couple of times and thought I decided against posting it. That's my story and I'm sticking with it.

Mike:  KWs and PBs are both built by Paccar, once Pacific Car & Foundry, so they do have something of a family resemblance, and are both VERY common on NW forests.  Confusing them isn't uncommon.  I do it all the time, although my sister can identify them at a glance.

Those are Hayes off-highway trucks and would have either 12 or 16-foot bunks.  I can't remember the model number.  Still to be added are the trailers, the water tanks (for the water cooled breaks) and the headache racks.  If memory serves, they are painted in Weyerhauser colors.

While it's true Hayes built trucks similar, using KW cabs in many cases, I believe these to be Kenworth models. 
I think the Kenworth logo on the hood can be made out in the 1st truck just behind the turn signal guard on the fender.
