Is that printed or etched?

Three-level etched.

Three-level etched.
I guess I should have looked at the picture better.  :ashat:

I have a lifetime goal of having a model of every possible CSX paint scheme.

In honor of an article I'm about to submit....
Here is a fun one....

Are you going to do the "Spirit of Hunter" unit?

Quote
August 11 (AP) - CSXT is pleased to announce that a locomotive has emerged from it's now-closed Waycross paint shop facilities designed to honor the newest CEO of the company.

Mark Smith, just laid off as an apprentice journeyman in the paint booth in Waycross, commented on this one-of-a-kind locomotive, "CSXT 5459 really embodies the vision and leadership within the organization today.    The company literally spared 'no expense' on this paint job."   The 4400-hp locomotive, adorned in full primer and goldenrod paint, is an absolute eye-catcher and is sure to not only improve morale, but safety at grade crossings with its highly visible paint.

The golden color of the locomotive is said to be a tribute to the nearly $400 million Mr. Harrison plans to pocket from his work with the company over the next four years.
Missing from the locomotive is the latest corporate logo, "How Tomorrow Moves."    Jan Jones, UPS Manager of Customer Service Relations, says this is appropriate as she is not sure when their freight is going to move.
The locomotive is slated to be painted back to current blue and gold scheme when time permits.   But for now, the "Spirit of Hunter Harrison" rolls on.

Now, the real story ---  EHH pulled the plug on Waycross and said "Shut it down NOW!"    They did, with 5459 half way through the paint job.   Goldenrod already applied, next would be on the stencils and masking for a coat of blue and then a coat of black underneath.   However, someone decided to put it back into service instead of moving it to Huntington.   After some spray paint and FRA-mandated Scotchlite, this is what you get...
On a related note, I just got word that one Midwestern rail yard has over 600 cars waiting on CSXT to pick them up for interchange.  Yikes!  Wait until the grain business kicks in next month.   It's going to get interesting.

And you gotta find the right spray paint font for the road numbers.

Been working at a snails pace on the river bank and front edge of the layout this weekend.  Couldn't tell you how many times I've redone this same area.    Still more to add so I hope to get this section done this week.

As always, thanks for looking!

The bridge needs a little weathering to really knock it out of the park.

Breathing a little bit of new life into some old Con-Cor tractor-trailers. Repainted cabs, painted some details and wheels, a shot of dullcote... Added some plumbing, filled the seam line, and added a photo-etched ladder to the tanker. Good as new.

Those old CC/Herpa trucks really aren't that bad, are they?  With a little work they look respectable, and if one can find them on sale, are cheap enough to buy in bulk.

I already have one spray painted loco.

A decal would be better though.

Day two of the Greater Toronto Trainshow has come and gone, and we only suffered one minor incident... but more on that in a bit.

First though, I was able to take pictures of the Rapido Trains New Look bus before the crowds arrived. What a great marketing tool!

After that, I commandeered a set of Prairie Shadow FPA4-FPB4 from another member of the NTrak Roadshow when he wasn't looking, to pull a 17 car CNR passenger train. These locos are sweet, and I will need to get a set of my own!

That is a GHQ 8 hatch reefer done up for express service behind the locos.

There was some fantastic modeling to be seen on the HO Freemo layout, which took up an entire building to itself! This weathered ex Rock Island car caught my eye though.

Finally, at about half an hour before closing time, one CN freight (which had proper clearances) plowed into the back of another CN freight (which did not have proper clearances but had dropped a cut of cars on the main), over a trestle. Train dynamics still apply in 1:160, and the resulting crash looked amazingly realistic. Wrecking crews cleared the line promptly though so trains could keep running for another 20 minutes before the end of the show.

All in all, this was a great show, with lots of vendors, layouts and manufacturers in attendance. Good times were had by all. @craigolio1 It was great having you run with us, hope you can make it out again some time!

ps, I've been trying to upload these pictures for 2 days but kept getting the "does not pass security checks" warnings... odd!

While I suspect I already know the answer, is this a real railroad name?

SHLX seems to be the closest. http://trn.trains.com/railroads/abcs-of-railroading/2006/05/railroad-reporting-marks
