Hi Bill Great work as usual. Did you count the rivets?
Rod.

No, no I didn't. Guess I will loose my status in the rivet counter's union!

Collected some late-60s billboard images off the internet and am working to make them presentable.  Not sure if they'll clean enough to use, but sharpening my Gimp skills at least.   Here's the most recent for Fresca:

Ah, sugar-free Fresca, back when they used Saccharin sweetener (which caused cancer in laboratory rats)!  :) Cool billboard!

As far as Gimping goes (that is equivalent to Photoshopping, rigth?) I see the paintbrush strokes where you lightened the yellowish background.  It would make sense to mask the off-white area (which will protect all the colored areas) then fill it with white. That will erase all the uneven yellowed areas (will make them white). At least that is how I would approach this in Corel PhotoPaint (another raster image editor).

This is how I would approach this.

I color-masked the background (so the lettering and the can will not be affected by any edits I do to the rest of the image.

Then I filled the masked areas with white. Next I lightened the lettering (that brought out the green) and darkened the can.

Hey Mike,

Thank you, so very much.

Repaint - I first strip off the original lettering (of course - right-?). Then paint the model "engine black". Hit it with a True Color gloss. Then the fun begins: I apply the decals with just water, I wick out the excess with a good #2 brush (Straighten and align as necessary). I apply Solvaset. Let that dry. Then I score the decal along the door edges, hinges and any other relief. Repeat as necessary. This may take a few times - to remove any and all air bubbles and silvering. I feel one of the keys is to use a brand new #11 X-Acto blade. I then hit the model with True Color flat. Weather a bit. I use Pan Pastels.

Thanks, again,
Wolf

Always so much good stuff here.  Pud, the Kanto module is the bomb.

After much hand-wringing over the next phase of my layout development, I ripped out my yard for some visceral track planning.  The white stripe was the first track I placed on this layout in 2010 as its previous northern Ontario iteration, placed before I thought of painting the base .  As always, more ramblings at https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=27858.540

Well, I just looked at your shot, and I looked at York, and I can see the spot you picked to model.  So if I can recognize it at this stage, you're off to a great start!

Success!!

Thanks!

I was actually just watching a bunch of videos of the area last night and was thinking "yeah, this is going pretty well".
