PRR FW1 Well Car Load and Support Kit now available at Keystone Details

  This load is a frame for a very large stamping press that the PRR shipped in a special flat car, Class FW1.  This car is really a frame that was swapped onto the trucks of the FD2 Queen Mary, and is the source of an earlier announcement, here: https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=37850.0

Here is a proto photo of the PRR FW1 (Mt. Vernon Shops photo):


The model is hollow to keep material costs down and comes with the two open I beam support members that affix to the inside of the machine frame and the assembly then rests atop the car's center frame.  Wood blockers, spacers ,support cables, and placards, etc. are not included.

Here is my FW-1 from @Lemosteam. Excellent product. It's a little out of my era, but that didn't stop me, plus it's too cool to pass up. Thanks for releasing this.

Nice job. I would love to see less blurry pictures, though.

I think that looks pretty great! I like transition plate you put on there.
So, the PRR flat car book refers to the entire "end deck and truck" unit as "span bolsters" and the trucks themselves are, of course, T1 trucks. For clarity, the actual trucks themselves came from Shapeways as the trucks that come with the kit are metal etchings.

As for this, that Siemens load looks waaaaay too new. Besides, we already have the proper load for it...a Westinghouse Turbogenerator circa 1952.

I'm sure the plcard picture online was not done byt PRR for every load of that generator.  Looks like a publicity shot right after the flat was built.  Anyway, it is funny that you mention, I have contacted @peteski to send me some sheets of the placard.  I will be contacting each of the buyers of the generator to see if they want one.

Well, most of the pictures I've seen have placards. While not necessary, it provides a little "salt and pepper" on an already great dry aged rib eye.
My point is, Peteski gave these to me for free. If you want one, PM me

Also interesting to note...look at the two PRR versions offered by Kohs.




The two big differences here are the truck colors and the lettering.
It's hard to tell what color the trucks are in the photos, but they don't look FCC to me.
Also note the keystones. The "as built" version has a single unique keystone in a circle, while the later versions have 2 plain keystones per side. There's also a few lettering changes, too.
I actually can't find a photo of the placard used in these pictures.

I've seen this picture before, but some how missed the black box with the ad on it, I really like that look. That would be a nice addition to the model.

As far as the two different versions offered by Kohs, you gotta wonder how much artistic liberty was used.  Looking at the picture you see what appears to be black trucks and the missing keystone under the box, a mash up of the two renderings from Kohs.    However, there are pictures where two Keystones are seen,lol.
