Custom Atlas S-2

Hey y'all, when Atlas came out with their new S-2 locos this past year I bought a couple because I wanted to try them out and was so impressed that I bought 4 more. I ended up getting 3 undecorated gold models because I really wanted to paint them in my road. One day I was browsing ARR's past loco roster and found out that they actually had 4 of these, and Atlas made them, in HO only....

So a new project was started....
As of now all but the handrails have been painted and the decals are on. It will just need clear and weathering and it will be finished! Here's the sneak peak (I of course forgot to take pics tonight when I finished the decals).

This is the side rail and cab:

And here's the long hood:

On Wednesday I'll take pics of where it's at now and what progress I get done on it then.

I know right! Haha! I double checked before I started this that it wasn't getting released on the next run. I still don't understand why it was only released in HO.

I would guess they haven't gotten to it yet... Has the 2nd run even been released yet?..

They have a long way to go... ~Ian

No, but it was announced in their catalogue. I believe it's supposed to be released in January or February. I check MBK daily.

Yes, the second run came out early 2016 in two shippings (January and February/March) from China.  http://www.atlasrr.com/NLoco/ns2a.htm

The third run was announced June 2016, due Dec 2016 but hasn't arrived yet. http://www.atlasrr.com/NLoco/ns2b.htm

The first run was announced sometime in 2012 with a due date of mid-2014, but they didn't arrive until April 2015  http://www.atlasrr.com/NLoco/ns2.htm

So tonight I went to Jerry's for Wednesday work night and more progress was done on the S-2. Tonight Pete and I tested Scalecoat I clear coat, which so far looks quite good. Pete was the one who shot the black and now the clear coat(He has much more skill than I do with an airbrush). Here are the pics as of tonight!

The long hood:

The side rails:

The pilots:

Almost finished, I need to put in the glass, paint the handrails, then weather it and it will be complete! Here are the pics!

Ready for weathering!

Since this pic I have mostly corrected the warp in the front handrail and the side handrails.

If I can get da@$ video to upload I will show you how well it runs.
