Checked again this morning (as usual) and it came back to Nashville from Nashua NH (took 4 hours this time), and they got it to Spring Hill and it will be delivered today...

And this is what USUALLY happens - except when it doesn't.

@jereising My fingers are crossed that the box is OK.  BTW, all you will have to do to re-ship is peel my shipping label off.  The box is completely covered in clear tape and the label is taped over that so it should peel away for your label without damaging the box itself.

Please PM me to let me know its is OK...

Is the Memorial Train going to make it to Timonium this weekend to run on the Bantrak layout?

And if so, is that going to be a hand-off point from the Western to Eastern Shore contingent of the DMV?

Just curious how much time I should commit to scenery construction this week.

I was also wondering if the Bantrak was going to host, if perhaps the DMV power pool could take turns at the point...  I'll need to do some running maintenance on a couple of LRV units if that's the case...

I doubt it.  I believe the train is still in Tennessee with a stop in central Virginia before it hits the DMV.

Bantrak is not scheduled to host the train as far as I know

Now if the train makes it here between middle to end of December, then there will be opportunities

I let Tim know I couldn't host it yesterday.  I have a TDY starting today for several weeks (not to mention the club dismantled the layout until Thanksgiving).

Hope to see pics of the next stop soon!

That's too bad, @ridinshotgun.   I'm sorry you can't participate now.

Well, that will bring the train to the DMV that much sooner.  Oh man, I have some work to do to prepare for its arrival at my layout. :scared:

Greetings Everyone:

As our train passes from Tennessee into the northeastern United States, we are effectively commencing the third leg of the train's U.S> tour, with numerous stops coming up in close proximity to one another.

I will ask that we stick to the prescribed routing for two reasons - easier for me to manage, and some are working to have their layouts ready and re-scheduling would upset their plans.

After the two stops in Pennsylvania, there are five stops in Maryland, so I will send an email to those people to alert you and to confirm routing.

It has been very cool to see a train which ran on my layout here now run on so many of your layouts; this has been a real exercise in community and a lot of fun.  I wish to thank all those who have handled and photographed the train so well during the first two thirds of the U.S. tour; you have done our friend Mike proud!

Dear Participants:

As a member of the Advisory Board for N-Scale Magazine, I have discussed with Pamela Clapp the idea of running a series of articles chronicling the travels of the McGrattan Memorial Train.  Each instalment would cover a portion of the tour in chronological order, with each page comprising  two large format photographs and a caption describing the layout.  Each participant in the tour would have the opportunity to submit two photographs showcasing the train's tour of their layout, and the accompanying caption.  The initial instalment would describe the memorial train project and the creation of the consist.

I would like to propose that rather than paying out the usual royalties per page, I ask the magazine to retain the royalties in trust until the last instalment and we then donate them toward the Registered Education Savings Plan which has been set up for Mike's son Sam.

Our purpose would be to share the story of the train with a wider audience, to showcase some fabulous N Scale layouts, to contribute toward and support a magazine dedicated to our N Scale hobby, and to provide additional financial assistance to Mike's family.

I welcome your thoughts on this idea.
