Isn't the MP15AC lined than the DC? What chassis will this be based on?

Also, why no Horizon/Comet II car?

I believe it is. I'm going to follow an article from N Scale Railroading. The author used the Atlas MP15DC as a starting point. My shell will take most of the hard work out of the conversion.

As to why no Horizon/Comet II cars, well I do what I know best and that is mostly passenger cars from the classic streamliners.

That's too bad. I need 20 coaches and 5 cab cars. To start. These were used by NJT, MBTA, SEPTA, Metro North, Amtrak and in Montreal on their commuter lines. They are enormously popular in the east and no one has made them yet. You should look into it. I can provide you with any measurements and photos you may need.

^ Dan check Shapeways.  A guy has Horizon cars.  They look pretty good.  Otherwise I think anyone wanting to model Amtrak, or the others you mentioned will be waiting a long time.

Personally, the bi levels Bill did are awesome, and always an eye catcher at shows.  But I can see the love for the MP15AC.

Bill,

Have you ever considered a Silver Charger shell?

They are not great.

I kinda thought the MP15AC would be the front runner.

As for an SDL39, I already have one.  :D Seriously though, that's a tough build. Even with a shell, cobbling the mechanism together is beyond what most would want to do. Also the handrails are another problem. I had two kits that were offered at one time and I only built the one as it was a huge pain. (Sorry I sold the second kit long ago)...

That's okay Bill, I'm building one based off of the SDL39 article you wrote. It is hands down one of the best build articles I've ever read. Thanks for writing it!

Please consider Pacific Surfliner cars for a future list. :)

Cheers!
