Canton, Highlandtown and Fells Point - Compact layout

Now I've gone and done it.

Rhodana keeps bringing home pieces of foam from the jobsite, so it was bound to happen sooner or later.  I don't really have a track plan at this point, but I have a platform to start with.   This is the corner next to my desk, which I recently cleaned out, and it measures 60" along under the shelves, and 42" between the corner and the desk on the right.  The platform is about 26" deep on each leg.

After watching DKS and Chris have fun with their urban mini-layouts, I thought I'd try my hand at re-deploying some of my structures, track and accessories in a bite-size, if not mini track plan.

Goals include a continuous run, maybe some street running, a small interchange yard, generous enough curves on the continuous main so I can test run the decoder installs I do, and lots of big buildings.  My initial though is a figure 8 that runs diagonally from left to right, with a switching branch that meanders around under some urban trestles.

Don't give me a deadline.  After a couple of false starts elsewhere in this forum, I figured I'd announce this launch after at least the keel is laid.  More news as it happens.

Oh, and before you ask, NO I can't drill a hole in the book shelf.  Thanks.

Awesome!  My brother used to live in Canton, so I've run around all over the area you're modeling.  Can't wait to see more.

Rats, that was my first thought for a longer mainline with generous curves :o

Carve one if you can't drill.

If not that, I can see a lopsided figure 8 pattern layout fitting in that space nicely with 11-12 inch radii.

Try this out for a plan. Figure 8 with lower level yard, upper level wye, and industries in every nook and cranny.

This needs some sharp curved turnouts and a bunch of crossings.

Ed will be thrilled to see that you've adopted his benchwork.   ;)

Great start Lee.  I look forward to what can be done.

I don't know about the sidings on grades, but I like that plan.
