OT comment.  Every time I see that plane, looking at its shape, I am simply amazed that it could fly.

According to the internet and that one Tommy Lee Jones movie, the SR-71 leaked oil and fuel like a sieve on the ground.  But once at altitude, everything swelled up worked flawlessly.

Latest work is upgrading the Wye modules to accommodate increasing traffic to the East.



Started back at the Wye adding the new Westbound mainline. 


Looking west, the new mainline is staked out in red and ready for work.


It's always scary to think about tearing up some perfectly good track, but at 10am this morning a work order was issued and soon after the right of way for the new Westbound main was all cleared.

You are absolutely right about the SR-71 leaking fuel.  The ones stationed near Sacramento would take off with a minimum of fuel on board.....fly out over the Pacific Ocean where they would met a tanker.  They'd top off with fuel then fly their mission. Once up to speed, the friction would caused by moving through the air at such speed would cause the material to expand and they would cease leaking fuel.

Best book I've ever read was the Skunk Works......all about the design and building of the aircraft.

Work began at 10am, and the new line is operational by 10pm!
That's what I call a job well done!

The new main connects straight into the yard bypass, leaving the old main as a good length switching lead.
I have a few more feeders to drop and we'll be ready for our first show of the year down in Wichita, KS, February 4th and 5th.

Very nice work and great video. Those camera do a neat job. I have one and used it on my now dismantled (but being relocated) N Scale SFRSD layout along with friends Sn3 and Hon3 RR's. The videos come up a treat.
