New Stuff from BeNScale

Last night I finally met Ben face to face.  Thankfully, he had a box of goodies in tow.

Most important thing is that he finally got the injected molded equipment cabinets— he'll be updating the web site soon.
He's also working on a new connector system for the signals— so you can unplug signals for module transport (the "base" is so tall in the pictures is that we stacked up a few of them to clear the connector).

He'll have more stuff rolled out by the SPHTS convention, including an HO Scale product line.

Nice.  This completes the package.  He sells signal heads with LEDs in them.

Ben will sell you everything "à la carte," or even sell the assembled signals. He started the venture after another vendor never followed through on the N-Scale searchlight signals.

I've built two kits so far— they go together very nicely (although the pictures I posted were Ben's assembled signals).

Yes, I know we could go off and invent our own connector standard (and we might), but if someone has that figured out, why not reuse.

Sorry, didn't snap a picture of this, but he did show off the new connector.  On the base PCB of the signal he has a small 10-pin connector which looks a lot like this one: http://www.samtec.com/documents/webfiles/pdf/SFMC.PDF.

He then has a small cable which attaches to this, on one end is a male connector, and the other end looks like a telephone handset jack. Resistors are included in the cable.  NOTE: A dual head signal has two telco connectors. The nice thing about the telco jacks is that the wire is color coded (red->red, yellow->yellow, green->green, black->power).

He'll have a "captive" audience. It has my attention as this is EXACTLY what the SP modeler needs.
