Given the number of -2's that KCS owned - and the repowered as -3's - I'd be in for a half dozen or so.  I could even supply FVM with some prototype shots (albeit grainey and taken by a teenager) if they needed reference material.

Is not IF is when IM is going to do the SD40-2, they already have all the parts from all the SD they have done. If I remember, the nose and long hood are seperate pieces so all IM has to do is glue the nose and cab from the sd45-2 and the long hood of the SD40-2W.
Which ever side of the track I am on is the right side.

Long hood of an SD40-2W is different than an SD40-2... no beaded blower duct (not that IM has actually done that on their other SDs yet) and a vented half door on the radiator compartment...

I never said they were correct, just that they would do them. Its not like that has stop IM from doing other SD40/45's.

no beaded blower duct

Which is correct for any GMDD built SD40-2, although admittedly very few were built for US roads (Only a couple orders for BN IIRC)

Yep... GMDD order numbers C422 and C423... and also correct for any GMDD built -2 up to the switch to the angular duct... but not for the SD40T-2, SD45T-2 and SD45-2 that IM has done.

Never noticed that one before. I looked it up when I read that and lo and behold, no beaded blower duct. BN 7167-7205 (C422) and 7206-7235 (C423).

From What I could find it was because LaGrange was booked up, so production got moved to Canada.

If N scale had good SD40-2s, C30-7s, U30Cs, SD45s, SD40s, and SW10s; I'd be in N scale.

There was also a CP order for SD40-2's, 5629-5658, that were built in La Grange due to London being overbooked... which was alot easier to do than overbooking La Grange.
