The Wally caboose is crude. I got one and later became disgusted with it and sold it.

That leaves the MT as readily available in your time frame (September). But read the thread posted above so you know what you're getting into. ;D

So Sirenwerks (Bryan) was kind enough to part with 4 Walthers cars for me to experiment on.  The first went into the Dip last night, and I'll let you all know how it goes.

UPDATE:
So I've been poking around the intertubes for a suitable starting place for the trucks of these cabeese, and found these on eBay.  Granted, they will require some smoothing, but what's the consensus on them as a starting place?  And yes, I'll change out to FVM wheel sets - I think 28's or 33's would be appropriate.

Check out this Green Max truck. Granted, you'll have to shave the face and cut detail off the top of the truck, but it looks like it has a wider stance like you need and the main member runs directly between the bearings and gives you a seat to create a new truck face.

My nickel's worth: If you can wait, don't use the SP Micro-Trains. They have auctioned as high as $71!!!!  Mark or Catt could custom etch you one in that price range....   (Maybe!)
