Kato NW2 question

Would the Kato NW2 be a good starting point for bashing an SW1200? Are the truck centers the same as an SW1200? I know, I have the LL ones, but I like Kato. TIA.

I put a Kato mechanism in an LL body quite successfully with a permanent 'glue up' of the LL body followed by some aggressive dremeling to get things out of the way.  I did not have to narrow the mechanism, and there were no issues with truck clearances.  Photos if you need them, but I've posted them over on Atlas and Trainboard before.  The LL mech has its fans, but what finally pushed me over the edge was the better slow-speed electrical pickup of the Kato - really helps to have fully equalized trucks.

Thanks Randy. I'm looking at it as a chassis for the Miniatures by Eric SW1200RS body. I remember you're thorough dissecting of the NW2 and being impressed with the engineering on it, but not where LL entered into the laboratory. Till now, I've had no real need for one, but now I just might. Thanks for the reply.

How about a little help guy's , the SW1200RS and Flexcoil trucks are not listed on Eric's site . Where can we find them ?
