In the perfect, natural progression for where N scale has been heading, Bachman has teased animated stock cars for N scale featuring horses, cattle and reindeer. I can only assume little green Martian men will be the second release.

I'm guessing that'll only be $250.

Ah yes, $250, the modern day quarter.
-
Meh. I'm waiting for the missile launcher. Or the helicopter car.
-
Don't forget the aquarium car as well. 1 GIANT step backwards into the 70's...
-
Personally, I though the ducking giraffe car would be the best entry into the market.

If someone makes one I will buy it!
When I was a kid one of my friends had an HO one (from Fleischmann if I recall correctly) and I was soooo envious!
The old ones used a special track segment to make the giraffe duck, but it occurs to me that today one could build an electronic obstacle detector (maybe with IR) that would make the giraffe duck for any obstacle without a special trigger track. THAT would be cool!
-
At least it has open slats... :P
-

Not till they add decoders so you can control the car.

Right, sorry, only $225 then.

Bachmann? Can't be BLI with see-through sides. :D
Duh - I just saw the Boxing Glove coupler. Must be Bachmann.
-
Still awaiting a PRR B60b, with sheep sounds and in RailWire Express Agency livery.

70's? How about 40's to 50's. Lionel had 'em

Beat me to it.

The next Railwire challenge will be to combine the Bachmann animated car with the sound chassis from the BLI.
-
Producing a sound decoder equipped and muzzle flash lighted version of Lionel’s Western & Atlantic 3370 Wells Fargo operating sheriff and outlaw car might actually be profitable.
-
Meh. I'm waiting for the missile launcher. Or the helicopter car.
I could use a spotlight car.

I've got a toy train side that I rarely talk about in mixed company <grin>. I go really sideways if there's American Flyer wide gauge involved!
Lowell Smith, back in the day, had MTL run an entire series of Lionel O Gauge "6464" boxcars in N scale. As the "6464" boxcars were usually included in some pretty neat sets, occasionally I'll get an itch to explore conversion of other Lionel ideas to N scale.

Thanks for refreshing my memory. I remembered the tiny "Lionel" N scale cars in orange cardboard boxes, but I didn't remember who, or when produced them. So it was MTL. I'm, surprised we never hear about them. I would have expected them to become highly prized collectibles, since the series should interest both, MTL and Lionel collectors. Did they?

Maybe they've held better than the standard MTL car prices. Original special run price was $19.95 and they go for $40 for a basic one to $60+ for a more desirable scheme. Most Lowell Smith stuff is about that way though.

I see. So they are in a collectibles price range. Thanks Mike.

Well this is a must have for anyone getting the Acme Glue Car..
I'll take an Alien car if that comes..
Patiently waiting for Gordon, Emily, Henrietta and Toad in the Thomas line.

I don't think they need to add cattle car smells for realism, but someone probably will.
I just find this interesting how this mfg views the market for N scale. In general, we seem to be heading to more realism in all facets, and then this comes out....

I'm thinking we should have some of the significate members of railwire scanned and provide 3d prints to insert in those openings. Imagine Ed waving to you as the car goes by on your layout LOL

Hey, @Ed Kapuscinski - don't you have a 3D scan of yourself floating around somewhere? @MTLJoe has an idea.
-

But are we sure it's a wave? N scale hands are so tiny it's hard to tell. :P

Heck, Model Power had you covered. Their spotlight car lit up the room unbelievably well once it melted and caught fire.
I am all for spoofs and fantasy if it keeps model manufacturers in business. In reality, if animals were allowed to poke their heads out of a moving train there would be a lot of headless critters being unloaded. Then again, a headless horse with splashes of blood running down the slats of the car would go great with MTL's and Atlas' Halloween series.

Replace bulb with Cree LED. Don sunglasses and run trains.

Oh man, Micro-Trains x Miniprints. I'm HERE for it.

Wait, actually I'm here: https://www.miniprints.com/product/ed-k/

I believe it was Bachmann. :)

I have an N scale Ed K. I just need to paint it before he debuts on the N scale Housatonic RR. ;)
-
Um, isn't there a actors strike going on now, with one issue being use of scans of the actors without paying the actors per use?
Do we need to pay Ed for running his scanned likeness around our layouts? Maybe Plaid TRW membership could include unlimited use of Ed prints?
-
Oh *****, yeah, I should definitely be getting $0.05 off of every one of those sold.
*****, I'd probably have a quarter by now!

I think the analogy has you getting paid per foot your model is moved on the layout.

Waiting for my exploding ammo boxcar and Helicopter Reconnaissance car. Look at the rabbit hole you put me down...

Waiting for my exploding ammo boxcar...
I have to wonder how many of those are intact, as in having all the pieces. The time or two I played with a friend's exploder, the pieces went everywhere including under furniture.

Home cleaning chemicals + chlorine tank cars = authentic railroad smells!

I ordered one in G scale to make a bird feeder pedestal out of it. ;)

You won't do it.

Meh. I'm waiting for the missile launcher.
Kid at Christmas: I want the toy train car that shoots missiles!
Santa: You'll shoot your eye out, kid.
Yes, I watched A Christmas Story way too many times.
