Kits will be shipping to dealers early next week (probably Monday).

Decal set includes stripes and a highly stylized version of the eagle logo (enterprising modelers can grab the real one from an image search).

Order up!  I can definitely use some of these.  Plus, my wife drove one for many years, so she gets one too.

Very nice DKS!  I hope that you made enough so they don't sell out in just couple of hours.  Or I should probably say that I hope that the merchants ordered enough...

Two questions.

Price?

Are you going to sell multi-packs?

Probably not, but I hadn't given it that much thought.

Dave, what are your thoughts on roll off dumpsters? These could be done pretty easily using a laser cutter for the master.

Here's the post office I will be modeling. (probably compressed a little...it's small, but it's a small town so I don't want it overpowering the model town)   Think one of y'all can whip this up for me too?   :P

http://www.city-data.com/picfilesc/picc23726.php

Found some pics in my personal stash too...

This one was obviously chopped down a bit.

Dock area where those pretty little trucks and one big Athearn one will hang out.

Hey, everybody else seems to be placing their orders...worth a shot.   ;)   My grandfather worked at this one, as have several friends.  And bonus, it's a block off the BNSF mainline between Fort Worth and Amarillo.  That brownish thing above the red pickup on the left side is a BNSF boxcar full of drilling mud.

In all seriousness, if anyone knows of a commercially available kit that is a good starting point I would be interested.   This structure will be for my next layout which is several years away, but I'm starting to work on key structures so, it could come up as a project before long.

Karin, I'll be in for three of the Grumman's once they're on your site.  You'll recognize me as your customer that had a package--irony of all ironies--lost in the mail.     (and I will thank you again for your outstanding customer service in that situation)

Hi Doug, since you aren't in any hurry on the structure I just might be able to accommodate at a later time. Also, I have these mail trucks in stock, would you like me to send you a PayPal invoice?

Hey Karin,

That would be cool!   I feel like it's a good "pike size" building, appropriate for small/medium size towns or satellite post offices in large cities.   So if it comes up eventually on your project list I will be very happy, and I'm sure there will be others interested as well.

Yes,  you can invoice me....throw a yellow bus on there too!   :D

A couple modular job-site office trailers put together with aluminum steps and wheelchair ramp would make an excellent small-town post office.
That's exactly how it is in Mt. Ephraim, NJ since the post office that was on the site previously was burnt down due to an air conditioner malfunction.

I just went to the M.B. Klein website (looking for the Big Boys) and I noticed that the Mail Trucks are no longer listed either on the main N scale pages or even under the NZT Products page. I know that they are sold out (I bought 5 myself), but usually even the sold out items are still visible on the website.  The web page for them is still there (as I can bring it up from my order history), but it is not available elsewhere.

These models are very well done but it is too bad that they have solid windows.  I think that I'll try to hollow out one of my models to get my see-through windows.  :)

Looks like i missed the boat. (make that again...)

And just as a bit of reinforcement for David's stylized logo decals, I happened to be going by some of the 1:1 scale versions of these and from what was maybe 40 yards away I almost thought that the USPS had adopted his design. So in a comparative distance from the finished models it will be impossible to tell that the logo isn't the 100% real-deal.

I noticed that, too, but with an AR Tower kit. It doesn't even show up when you sort by manufacturer.

Question...are they painted white, or just molded in white? (if that's possible?)

Yes Doug, they are cast in white resin. However, you may want to put a coat of semi gloss over the body after you let the decals dry.

As Karin said, they are molded in white. As it happens, I can mold resin in just about any color desired, including fluorescents and metallics.

Um, thanks but I think white is a better choice...  :P

Guess now we just need mirrors!   I d/l'ed a handful of logos to see about printing them onto decal paper.  I actually really like the faux version included though, 'twas a great idea.

I know I am in the vast minority here, but I actually would have liked the LLV in gray. Why? White resin has a certain translucence that shows up in macro photography. This can be mitigated somewhat by using titanium based white paint, but it still shows up.

And clear resin? Well Dave's bus was my first real experience with clear resin. I have repainted the bus FIVE times now and still not satisfied. One thing I will admit, the clear resin sure hold up better to paint stripers!

Someday Dave, someday I will have something to show. lol

Knowing what Daniel is capable of, it should be pretty nice. I would be interested in knowing what you have tried that you didn't like.

In my experience with clear-cast models, surprisingly my best finishes were done with metallic pens. I have been using Prang brand metallic brush pens I found at the local Staples for about $6 for a set of six. I realize that this doesn't apply to the school bus in question but for other vehicles it was acceptable--not enough to convince me to go back to offering clear cast models but for a few of my vehicles it worked ok.

There is a slight rastering of the windows that has been throwing me off. The windows are also very shallow, so getting paint thick enough to fill the raster lines but thin enough not to spill onto the window frames is very hard.

Here is a quick list of what I tried:
1. Clear gloss on the windows - did not affect the rastering
2. Clear coat whole model - dulled some details around the windshield, blended the windows with the frames
3. Tamiya Acrylic primer - would not stick to clear resin
4. Dark gray laquer primer - too dark for yellow finish coat, raster lines stil visible, dark gray windows to even.
5. Yellow first - model was translucent, window frames too small to mask, raster lines visible on windows.

My next attempt will be a medium gray gloss laquer. I will then mask the windows and spray several layers of yellow to build up the window frames, then apply a black wash on the windows followed by a gloss coat, mask the windows again and finish the model with a semi gloss clear coat. If this does not work, I'm throwing in the towel.
