Man, I love that backdrop!   I know some folks say that a backdrop should go unnoticed,  but I think a really nicely done backdrop like this really adds a lot more to a layout than many folks realize, and it deserves to be recognized and appreciated every bit as much as a nicely done structure or weathering job, for example.

Lee,

I'm so glad to see some progress on the layout.  I was jonesing for some updates.  I'm not sure how you got back into the layout to get the camera angle that you did on the shot above, but me likey!

Well I did got more done this week then I expected - which is good because work is backing up so it is back to the grindstone starting tomorrow.

I reinstalled Farron and put in all the lattice.

Nice work Mark - I noticed a snow shed is proposed on your layout. I was considering one for my future layout ..... wonder if you have seen the CP Snowshed that is put out by a company called Hunterline. I saw one built up at a local train show and was really impressed.
In the interim - keep up the good work !

A great article in CTC Board this month on chasing elusive C Liners on the Fort McLeod to Grand Forks line back in 1971, sort of remenicent of these shots. Very inspiring work Mark... would be tempted to model the KVR back then if I wasn't so heavily comitted equipment wise to my era/locale! If my modeling abilities prove to be half of yours, I'll be pretty happy. Great work as always!

Mark, do your H Liners use the Atlas or the Kaslo shells?

Yep...I plan on using that one and modifying it as necessary to fit the curved Paulson snowshed.  There will also be a straight snowshed planned just West of there and before Paulson.

thx for the feedback!

Mark, do your H Liners use the Atlas or the Kaslo shells?

The H Liners are Atlas mechanisms in Kaslo shells assembled and painted by Jeff Briggs of Briggs Models in Victoria BC.  Jeff was the designer and fabricator of the molds and is an amazing craftsman.  The units run super smoooooooothly and are my pride and joy.  I will soon have 10 of them bringing my FM total to 20 units allowing me to run pretty close to the prototype mix of models and paint schemes for 1970.  Now if only some one will bring out a decent running, DCC-ready S4! (not to start that thread again  :) )

Thanks for the compliments on the backdrop.  They really are key to making my bedroom sized layout seem bigger.

The upper deck will be getting the same treatment in the coming months.  The upper deck backdrop will be rolling forested hills (possibly under a stormy sky)

I rounded out the long weekend replacing the couplers and doing some touch ups and tune ups on these two SD40-2s.

Dave,
Just sat the cam on top of the truss bridge.  The new skyboard makes all the difference!
