They were better than the Model Powers, but nowhere near the Atlas Tank Cars or the Athearn LPG Cars.

Am I missing something here? The ad says:

Quote
The following "N" cars come equipped with our new trucks and working Micro-Trains(r) couplers.

Please note: "Micro-Trains" couplers, not "Con-Cor's new Micro-Trains-like" couplers, even though the ad also carries a description of the Con-Cor couplers.

I wonder if Con-Cor will make their Rigid Jaw couplers in various shank lengths and offset jaws . That would be great for many applications such as cab units , ore cars , pilots , etc . I would love to have these to mess with . And the best part is no slinky with something we want close coupled , which they never mentioned in their ad . Less bulky looking than the Red Caboose ones . Con-Cor could be the one to use , if they made these easily available .

Hm.... I see Con-Cor is putting lipstick on the same pig:

This will be one of UTLX's 27k gallon general service tanks that is often used in tallow and oil transport.

Looking at the flyer... they retooled the trucks to fit the couplers, but not to update the god awful sideframes. You stay classy, Con-Cor.

I'm thinking about maybe going with the Con Cor couplers for my passenger train (with trip pins removed, egads!) and on the cab ends of the 70 tonners I plan to get.

Is this for real?  Even the add looks like Con-Cor's late 80's/early90's style.

Yep, its real it was posted over at IMRC.

Still... man look at those car.... just awful. Extra points for the 50% oversized lettering on the tankj with 100% oversized detail. Seriously, you could fit the Atlas Taurus in the tank access hatch.

The tankers can still be found at train shows for $7-8.  Since they're the only true funnel flows available (as far as I know), they are worth that much to me just for the body.  But not $17.98...

I guess this is the "stretch" version of the 40 footer in the flyer?

Con-Cor was one up on the other manufacturers in that they released three different size Funnel Flows at once, including the 60-footer Daniel's working with. Yes, they suffered from some chunky qualities and fragility in other places, but could you imagine if Atlas, Athearn, or MT released three car length versions of anything at once? You have to praise them for at least trying to address N scale's needs.

Here's the perfect bargain to pull those Concor tanks...

http://www.walthers.com/exec/bargain?scale=N&category=all

How's about them apples?  I need to stock up on lead blobs, but they'll need to drop the price another 90% to get my attention...

The modular fire sale continues, though... might have to scratch together some scratch for a couple of them.

I have a couple of the medium size cars. One has a horrible fit and finish glue job and the bolsster pins kept falling out. The other is very nice, converted both to MT roller Bearing Trucks. If I hadn't purchased these mail order (pre internet days) I would have gone to a LHS and looked at all the cars in stock to find two that were good. Nate Goodman (Nato).

Interesting, Walthers lowered the MSRP of the modulars to $6, but doubbled the sale price to $4.
