Yup. Given CN's tightwad ways, I suspect none will get CN paint unless paint flows during wreck repairs. However, one never knows... they've painted old units then retired them shortly thereafter.

There's something strange about the new photo of the CSX unit. It looks like you can see all the way through, but on the actual model the motor, motor mount and frame would be visible in the gap. I guess we'll need to add a thin strip of black plastic to block the gap. Or maybe just paint that part of the frame and the contact strip.

The walkway/side still is much thicker on the C40-8 than the C40-8W. This follows the prototype. The cabs really, REALLY annoy me on the Atas units becasue Bachmann's look right. I don't know how Atlas went from the sublime B40-8W to this.

The other really annoying thing about this model is the window glass is glued in with lots of little black plastic bits, making it impossible to repaint engines or weather them properly.

The frame details are starting to get under my skin. Kato started the trend, now everyone seems to be doing it except Atlas. I think the looks would be just about perfect. Notice the Kato fueltank sits LOWER then the Atlas engine, but the gab is filled in with the frame detail.

I haven't compared the new BNSF C44-9Ws to the previously retooled Espee C44-9Ws yet, but the handrails on the new BNSF units look quite good - maybe they've thinned these out too? Especially the nose handrails. Also glad these are now pre-installed.

I really like the pair of NS standard cabs that I have. To me, they look nice, and run almost as well as a Kato.

The wheels seem to get dirty quicker than my Kato's, and they don't look as nice as the low pros that are on the Kato locos.

Small details, but at the price point, I have to take this into consideration.

Is it just me, or is anyone else bothered by the "liberty bell" showing in the radiator screens? And yes, I know that it's supposed to represent the silhouette of the radiator housing behind the screens which you can see in profile against a bright background/backlighting. It's one of those things that seems like a good idea but loses something in the execution. Bothered me ever since it first appeared on the dash-8b's.
