$200 clams for the 2-8-0?  Voof.  That puts it on the street for $150 or better...  With a crappy decoder (more than likely)....
Alas, there is a new road number, though! :)

Maybe this will create a surge of aftermarket availability of the previous drive.

Lee

Current Retail pricing on the last batch of 2-8-0's was $160. $40 more for an installed decoder may be worth it for some and you know the price difference after discounting will end up more like a 20-25 dollar difference at most.

The Favorite Spot is still selling 2-8-0's @ $50 (plus $12 shipping, IIRC.)

That's where I got my 3 4-8-2's and 2-8-0's also. And the occasional 12 pack of PC boxcars that I use for weathering demos at the local clubs.

I've heard it mentioned that if you buy enough Bachmann will discount up to 80% off list. That would explain the cheap prices you find for their stuff. And why my local dealer, who charges list, has dust covering all of his Bachmann stock.

Yeah, and I know people who are buying the current Spectrum 2-8-0's in anticipation of an after market resin cast PRR H9/10 boiler.

I was going to ask in PM but then figured others might be curious also…

What after market resin cast PRR H9/H10 boilers?

I work at a shop and can buy my loco's cheaper from Favorite Spot than I can through the store at wholesale. I only stock roads that I know I can sell because of that. We try to keep them around $100 and that is making less than 20% margin which sucks for a brick and morter.

Walthers must have jumped the gun because the announcements are gone now.
