I got back to my own projects after the completion of the Andrew Junction....

I recently found this old Life Like FB2 dummy unit in a box; I had bought it for $ 2.00 at a show many years ago. A coupler change; some home made winterization hatches and some detailing; a renumber and weathering job later and it's ready for service.....





I've also continued to work on my Model Power 4-6-2 Heavy Pacific by modifying the tender to match the CPR version more closely....







Lots more work to do on her.....

The auto carriers are awesome !
I went out and purchased a HF Mighty Might table saw the other day and commenced construction on
a small outbuilding/barn for the layout.

The saw works well for smaller pieces of material however, I'm going to have to build a sled and a better miter gauge.
The sliding miter supplied is sloppy and small.
Placed the outbuilding temorarily on the layout at Lookout Junction to see how it looks.


I used scale plywood and some basswood strips. Weathered the exterior walls with Bragdon powders
Planning to lightly weather the roof this afternoon and then Dulcote the whole thing.
I'm also working on weathering my first car, the Rail Box in the photos.


I plan to give it a few more yellowish white acrylic washes this weekend in attempt to add a bit more
paint fading. Also, I don't like how the door turned out.  :P

Work continues on the extension from the upper end of the helix onto the upper deck.  These two photographs show the foam trackbed in place on the sub-roadbed:






The next two photographs show the handlaid Code 40 track sitting in place for a test fit:






The next tasks are to install super-elevation underneath the track, drill holes and attach feeders, and run the bus wires so that this new section of track can be tested with a locomotive.  I have already backed a string of freight cars over the new track, but the gap between power districts prevents a locomotive test until the wiring is in place.

During the week I also experimented with how best to label the wiring which will soon be multiplying underneath the layout:




I also wired up a lamp to provide a load for my Ramp Meter so that it will also measure current as well as voltage:

How does this measure current in anything other than the lamp?  If I can understand this, I might try it with my RRampmeter as well.

I thought the RRampmeter would measure only the current that flows through it.  In other words, if the RRampmeter is connected at one end and measures the track voltage, how does adding a lamp or other load to the other end cause it to measure the current to the track?

Shoveled the 24" of snow, work on my level 2 portion of my layout plan and started cleaning the basement in preparation for my 4 day weekend coming up,
