First photo on the new LA layout

I started working on my LA-themed layout recently, and I have a photo to share.  Temporary track is in place.

This is a famous scene, see if you can guess where?  The wall is 35mm tall!!



I need to tone down the dark brick window fills on the right, it appears.

Looks like the white balance got skewed. But it looks really good. I don't recognize the "famous scene" but it looks like photo-printed paper...? That's how I'd planned to make the brick-faced structures at Pine Creek. If I get some good shots, I can use actual images of the building.

It is a combination of the white balance and the color change from printing.  This was an experiment to see if the textures from Clever Models could be scaled down to Z and still be realistic when printed.  I was worried that the result would be just a bunch of printer dots!  Considering how small everything is, I am surprised that it turned out as nice as it did.

Of course, if you can use images of the building, even better.

I tried to improve the graphics today, but now I notice a repeating pattern in the darker brick. :-\  It is actually pretty tough to get printed brick to look right.

The only paper brick sheets I have without a repeat pattern is the stuff from Papercreek.

So where will you find a Z scale CF-7?  Actually the fugly cab would help hide the wide hood. Or you could start with a AZL GP7 and some fudge.
