IMRC's LIRR Napeague pass car IS GOOD ENOUGH for me .

IMRC LIRR Napeague is not even close IMO . As much as I would like to vote with my money for the LIRR , IMRC's model only has the correct number of weels and LIRR paint .

I have been proven wrong , the IMRC car , except for the skirts looks to be a great match for the LIRR car .
I will need to empty my wallet once again .

The real one has windows way different

Richie, are you sure? That looks like a 13 double-bedroom sleeper. The two sides are quite different. The photo shows the aisle side. The drawing of the model shows the bedroom side window arrangement. Maybe check some more photos or floor plan.

Look at the link , both sides are the same or close . It would need window blocking and de-skirting , which would require a total repaint and decal job , and we don't have those decals I think . And after that the windows wouldn't be the right size . Loads of work for an unlettered car that is still wrong .

The above info is wrong , IMRC got it right .

Follow the vestibule, it's on the left side in all your photos... therefore the same side.

BTW- the skirting is molded into the car side, but is easy to trim off and the underbody detail is already in place behind it.  :)

I am curious, why did the Long Island have sleeper cars? I obviously don't know much about this railroad...but Long Island just doesn't seem that long to me. I could see them having a whole fleet of martini cars or or something, but not sleepers. How were they utilized?

Looks like LIRR bought leftover sleepers to use in extra fair parlor service.

They didn't call it the silver snail for nothing . Actually the LIRR having sleepers kind of surprised me too , thats part of the reason I didn't think the other side of this car was different . I guess the rich and famous going out to the East end , Hampton's and Montauk , were willing to pay top dollar to have their own chunk of car so their privacy was maintained . I used to use the LI to get from NYC or Flatbush to the Nassau border and would take a nap just doing that 30 min or so trip . I , if I had the money , could see the benefit if I was doing the Hampton trip . Catching a couple extra hours sleep on a daily trip that after 10 of them becomes boring to all except the railfan would be substantial .
