That's just great.   >:(  Märklin was taken over by a British private equity firm several years ago and it appears it has tired of the investment due to poor Christmas sales and may permit Märklin to enter bankruptcy. Considering that Märklin just took over two other bankrupts, LGB and Trix, in the last few years, this does not bode well for German trainmodel manufacturers.  :(

. . . Märklin was taken over by a British private equity firm several years ago. . .
Three years is long enough when flogging half dead horse (Marklin was $70.5 million in debt, when purchase by Kingsbridge) and if I was the investor I would be running away from it  as well . . .

Don't know. Perhaps with less competition, the other guys will pick up steam (ba-dum-bump). Companies such as Fleischmann, KM-1 and Kiss--how are they doing?

You are right we should not generalize, just because Marklin is in trouble doesn't mean that all are . . .
They all have different business models not to mention manufacturing/outsourcing strategies.
So some will survive and grow, others will suffer.
And BTW the loco you have showed is in O gauge and sells for 2,495 Euro  :o

Fleischmann was bought by Roco a few years back. IIRC Roco is teetering as well.
