Z/Points/accuation
« on: October 05, 2008, 08:26:06 AM »
G'Day!
I've been traveling around latley, interested in how one throws a switchbar in Z!
So my question has had replys, and this has added to my knowledge.
Being new to the forum, it being a bit quite, I thought I would re-phrase the question.
Lots of folks here I know and many I have the pleasure of meeting.
?

I'll try and sex the question up a bit, sex brings hits I'm told.

?

I don't know ?

?

Okay , into it. You have a point.
What is a point?
A point in my old Märklin cat. is a device to change diection of travel on a rail system.
A turnout.

...................

How shall we change the status of the point.

?

I'm drilling down here cobbers, you/I/we have a point that when a lok comes too that
mechanism, will be sent in one of two directions{ basic}.

!

It is so!

.....................

As we know ,the operator decided on which way the lok will proceed.

....................

Okay, now I will start to flesh out my question.
I have stated that we have a point and operator.

...................

What is in between ?

Z spur is tiny, rather small , and I have visted the forums and there
are answers to switching points, what I'd like to enquire about is two things.

I   What do you use in Z spur to accuate the point.
     { hand,wire,electro mechanical,pneumatic}
That is the first part of the question; not talking the accuator, talking
" what is between the acuator device and the point".

II  Okay there are three things in the operation;points, accuator, and accuating device.
Next must be the point, a throw bar, or may be the tie between the moving rails.
    Do you have a preference.

III   At last my long suffering friends, what ideas do you have to throw the point.
What have you/what are you using on your layout.

########################

There is a bit more in it then pressing a button, at least that is what my research shows, my quest goes on, any one passing, share!

 :)
