First Z Scale Code 25 handlaid turnout

Took about two hours and went together much more easily than I anticipated. I used no guides or jigs; everything except gauge (which I used a piece of M-T flex to establish) was eyeballed. But rolling stock passes through like it wasn't there. All done except the throwbar, which will not be soldered in place.

Here's a startling contrast: handlaid Code 25 track versus Märklin sectional (which has the same overall dimensions as Micro-Trains flex). The finished Code 25 track is shallower than just the Märklin rail alone.



This is one of four transitions from the hidden sectional track to the visible handlaid.

First, the handlaid code 25 turnout looks great! Seeing a layout done in code 25 will be a real treat.

Second, the Finescale Z wheelsets also look great! 3rd, I would like to replace all my wheels with finescale Z wheels.  I wonder if whoever made the Nn3 26" wheels sold at RLW would make Z Scale finescale wheels for us? If minimum order is required, I would want about 1000 to start.

this is indeed startling (and amazing effort) - I have always admired your work
and here to further illustrate the point you are making, I have drawn (to scale) options available to us versus real rails scaled 1:220

what this picture also shows is the problem with the rail head width - because we mostly view our models from above,
the visual impact it has, is worse than (or at least as bad as) that caused by rail height (in my opinion at least  : )

Thank you for the kind words. And, I agree with your point on the visual impact of rail width. This is truly serindipity, as I am currently drafting an article on this subject (I was about to publish it this afternoon). To save me the trouble of drawing what you have already just drawn, may I use your illustration in the article? I will of course provide credit.

Edit: I just measured M-T flex, and it is Code 60. I assume they use Code 55 for their raodbed sectional?
