Hello everyone,

My name is Paul I'm from Australia and I'm just starting in the hobby.
I am planing on making a layout for a bit of fun for myself and my 3 kids.

I have been reading forums/websites for about 3 months so my knowledge is still very limited.

Hi I'm Pete from Florida and I am just starting to research for the last month or 2 on N Scale. My idea is to get all the costly supplies while I am still working and ask questions in the interim to help me along with way. My Idea is to build a 4x8 set-up accessible all the way around 4 sides with 2" foam. I already have purchased about 200' of Micro-Engineering weathered track, quite a few industrial structures and a Digi-Trax Zephyr DCC system. I would like to build a somewhat elevated double mainline at an elevated rise around the outer perimeter. Then I would like to build another double mainline inside that with a 4 ladder switch yard inside of that with just industrial and no residential. I have also bought some Atlas loco's and some rolling stock once I retire early next year the plan is to start building and take about 2 years constructing my layout.

So I can imagine quite a few questions might come the boards way from a total newbie but all of the N scale/Hobby forum people have all been extremely helpful and understanding even with questions that might seem, well kinda stupid, but questions nevertheless. Hope to hear from many of you experienced model-railroaders as I explore the hobby :)

My name´s Mikael and i´m a 43 year old(young) modelrailroader from Sweden (therefore sometimes some odd words and ...). I´ve got infected by MR at the age of six, Switched mainly to n-scale ten years ago and building with US inspiration since two years

My biggest project are a set of modules that follows americaN, an European modular norm with US prototype and are mostly orientatet against operations

Hi all:
New to the board.........found it by accident last night & liked what I saw, although I think most of you fellas are light-years beyond me in skill & patience.  :-\
I'm old (59), disabled Vet, and building my last layout from "Unitrack", because it's easy, mostly "plug & play", and that's about all I can handle anymore.

First a big thanks to all for all the info and inspiration..figured it was time to cease my lurking and see what I could add.  (besides who doesn't want to be an aspiring a$$hat).  Been at this for ~10yrs now and have amassed alot of unfinished projects and equipment.  Foremost is my unfinished layout that serves as a holder for anything I can stack on it.  After moving from my hometown of Lima (Shame they completely tore down the loco works and have unsuccessfuly tried to redevelop the site as a Brownfield with an Alternative Energy Power Station (trash I Believe), moved to Porkopolis (How 'bout them Reds) for school and now work.  Got a Civil Engineering degree so I could be a geek all my life with a License to Kill, I mean a PE registration.  Uncle Pete is my RR of choice, no particular reason other than that is what my first Bman Trainset was and it has stuck.

Hi, my name is Rick Balassaitis and I figured it was time to introduce myself. I live in the South Jersey area. I spent 30 years collecting equipment (mostly Kadee) while raising a family. I finally got around to starting a permanent layout in the late 90s (4x8) and then put in a large expansion a few years later. I have modeled the Pennsy with a fictional division up the Schuylkill River in Pennsylvania. Unfortunately, it is now facing the dreaded saber saw. My wife will be getting major back surgery this month and we needed to move to a single story home. The old home is up for sale and it doesn't look like the potential buyers are interested in paying extra for a model railroad. I can salvage the original 4x8 and will probably cut out the yard and hidden storage tracks.

My new home has a loft which I have confiscated from my wife. I am contemplating modeling the Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Lines through Westville (where I grew up) and Woodbury, NJ circa 1950s. I will probably be seeking some help from you folks to plan this latest layout and I would be especially interested in hearing from fellow modelers in the Sewell/Deptford area.
